SVQ (Scottish Vocational Qualification) qualifications in social care are vocational qualifications that are specific to Scotland. These qualifications are designed to recognize the skills and knowledge of individuals working in the social care sector in Scotland, and include:

  • SVQ Level 2 in Social Services (Children and Young People)
  • SVQ Level 2 in Social Services (Care)
  • SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People)
  • SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Care)
  • SVQ Level 4 in Leadership and Management in Care Services

The SVQ is designed to be flexible, and can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis, and also can be done while working. They are usually assessed through a combination of observation, professional discussion, and the creation of a portfolio of evidence.

It’s worth noting that SVQs are regulated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and have different criteria and rules than other qualifications from the rest of the UK.
