Supporting Countries Struggling Under Conflict

Understanding the Human Impact of Conflict

As a social care recruitment business rooted in compassion and human dignity, Care2Support recognises that conflict is never just about borders or politics—it is fundamentally about people. Across Africa and beyond, millions are displaced, harmed or uprooted every day, with many crises stretching back decades.

Conflicts Across Africa and Their Lasting Impact

Countries such as Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia continue to experience devastating unrest. Sudan alone has more than 11 million internally displaced people, while millions more have fled to neighbouring countries, forming the largest displacement crisis in modern African history.

In eastern DRC, violence involving groups like M23—often fuelled by external actors supplying weapons, funding or political backing—has uprooted families for generations. These conflicts are not isolated; global powers such as the UAE, Russia, Turkey and Rwanda have been linked to the supply of arms or support for armed groups. Weapons originating from China, Russia, Europe and even the UK, through licensed transfers, have found their way into these conflict zones.

Historical Trauma and the Global Role in African Suffering

Africa’s history is marked by unimaginable atrocities with long-term consequences. The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade—responsible for the forced removal of 15–20 million Africans—left deep scars still felt today. Under King Leopold II, the Congo Free State witnessed the deaths of an estimated 10–15 million people through forced labour and systemic violence. More recent tragedies, from the Rwandan Genocide to ongoing civil wars in Sudan, Angola, Somalia and the DRC, continue to shape humanitarian realities.

These stories highlight how human suffering is inseparable from global systems of power, commerce and military influence.
