Currently employed in a large homeless centre as a security officer, the job evolves constant varying degrees of customer service, regularly liaising with the emergency services, housing officers, maintenance staff, and other agencies.
Also spent 10 years as an engineer fixing and producing on several various machine types, the position required regular quality check, preventative maintenance, liaise with specialist engineers and management. I spent time carrying out research and development for new products before production. Unfortunately I was forced into a career change due to a sports injury.
My genuine caring temperament lead me into the Health and Social Care profession, I supported service users with diverse needs, like homeless, drug abuse, asylum seekers and self harm issues. My mentoring qualifications help to develop plans specific to the persons needs, taking their likes or dislikes into account to structure feasible care plans. I also worked in Bournville college with students Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). Later I managed a charity aimed at socially excluded young people, it saw me engaging with people excluded from schools. The charity aimed to empower the service users using various techniques like setting small attainable targets, or allowing the service users to construct plans and off-site activities.
I always dreamt of owning a business, this was more realised whilst managing the charity. I decided to follow my dreams so became Security Officer, the job gave me the flexibility to start my own business as I only worked nights. I opened a recruitment agency supplying staff to local residential care homes, the business traded successfully for two years but domestic issues contributed to its demise.
One of my strengths is research and development, collating information, formatting it in a methodical manner which I feel is important in starting up a business. Managing the business will be where my persistence comes into play; my determination coupled with an ambitious streak will support me through this stage. I have accounting experience that will be use with the financial aspects of business. I am very experienced in I.T having developed and published several websites, publications and office stationery. I attended an intensive course in Boston, Massachusetts where I learnt valuable business skills; the college is renowned worldwide for its entrepreneurial programs.
I pride myself with my SMART, enthusiastic approach to problem solving with a level-headed, diplomatic approach. I regard myself as very open minded, willing to lend an ear to whoever wishes to be heard, a quietly confident person who prefers to be rewarded through actions instead of attractive words. My qualities include being a good listener; I think things through for a thorough, productive result. I participate well within group activities and still effectively work alone. I am a fun loving person that enjoys research, reading, website designing, chess, swimming and all competitive sports.
